maybe love

"... for the ancient Greeks, the word 'hypocrite' meant actor and the word 'personae' meant mask"

maybe, just maybe, I have said too much
but let not my words haunt me
the power of the word is in the heart

there are those who will hide behind gentle smiles
the loving gaze, but their knife digs deep

there are others still who will hide behind a mask
will show a self to others that will be pleasing
yet the evil that lurks in them is indisputably dark

few are those who speak their mind
perhaps there is pain in those words
perhaps there is wisdom in them
but they are words cast forth
from a clear conscience and heart

of the three, I choose the last
for if truth be told,
love dwells in truth not behind masks
and time love and truth reveals.

I feel sadness, yet I’m not sad; Absent the sense of your presence That accompanies my loneliness Far into unknown places. I lost myself in my words— The ones casting my road; I’m too lost in the dreams That weave a labyrinth before me.
