Romance of the river and moon

Last night I dreamt about the moon
The moon of long rays
The moon of short rays
The moon that falls in love with a river

Last night I dreamt about the moon
The moon with the many faces
And from one of those many faces
My loved one gazed back at me

Last night I dreamt about a river
The long journeys of the river
And on the shores of the river
Hovered the moon casting spells

Last night I dreamt about a river
That took me far away and long ago
And from the remotest of lands
Its many loves it bequeathed me

Last night I dreamt that my loved one
At the shores of that one river
With his running tears was soaking
My burning heart with desires

Last night I dreamed it was me
Who cried along with the moon,
That my tears were crystal clear
And turned to drops of morning dew

Last night I dreamt that the river
Dragged me far, far away
And that the moon in deep sorrow
Cuddled me against its breast

Last night I dreamt that river and moon
Desired each other’s love
And that I with their misfortunes
Weaved a tale of many words

Last night I dreamt that it was I,
Who was river, moon and words
And that lost in the twilights
Was led by the rays of your eyes.
