post no bills

for sale to the lowest bidder--
the special of the day
a fully functional heart
a heart now condemned by owner
who knows too well its dangers
a heart too sensitive for this world

it's really a give away
pennies will be accepted
right now it's shut away
useless to its owner, surely
who has closed the doors to love

come and take it, make it yours
release it from its tomb
it's slowly turning to dust
beating just to make blood flow
a heart as such needs better use
a younger host, perhaps
who doesn't know the uselessness of love
a dreamer might make something out of it--
illusions of love always ripe for fantasies

you know what, dear readers,
come to think of it
the heart is yours for free--
it's uselessness too apparent.
