Storage spaces
there are no extras here, it has all been stored away
the scent neatly packet in a series of bottles, each labeled
the voice in its own box--double tape on the edges to keep it all in
it was more difficult to store away the items with inherent subtlety--
what to do with a gesture, a gaze? those have been captured in the mirror
and the mirror covered with a long cloth
it has been trickier, however, to store away the intangibles
a moment, a thought, a feeling ... those have been wrapped
rice paper dipped in oil to preserve them
more difficult still has been to inventory the random memories,
the ones triggered by a place, a scent, a sound
for those the storage space will have to be greater ...
impossible, however, and we must all agree,
will be to gather the energies that elude our control
nostalgia, want, desire and even love can't be concealed
for those a greater storage space, such as a desert or ocean.
