Orestes Walks the Path of the Crafty Fox
Orestes's mother and her lover murdered his father. Apollo (Sun God) told Orestes that in order to revenge his father's death, it was his duty to kill his mother.
Incognito, Orestes, dressed in a dark hooded cloak, arrives at the black palace doorway in Argos! There is a Crescent Moon beaming in the sky. Crescent Moons represent endings, but also new beginnings. Nearby mountains represent that Orestes is very close to achieving a personal goal by following through with what Apollo ordered him to do. However, he needs to be cautious like a crafty fox, because if his mother and her lover find him, they will kill him!
Symbolism of This Card
Waxing Crescent Moon – A time to be assertive. The crafty Archetype will follow through with his or her plans during this moon phase which represents a timing to push ahead and go for it. The seed planted by the Archetype during this New Moon Phase represents his or her original plans of taking action to complete a goal that is very important!
Entrance of the Black Doorway – Mystery of What Is Hidden. The background of this card is very dark and the entrance to the doorway is pitch black. Black is symbolic of a crafty person during the hours of darkness when everyone is sleeping!
Gray Stone Building – The color gray represents something unclear and mysterious. Stone is symbolic of a rigid person, set in his or her ways. The stone building is the home where Orestes's mother and her lover live.
Three Pillars – The three pillars thrown in a pile of rubble represent a judgment that would go in favor of a person who was wronged! The number three is connected to the universe and the timing of this judgment.
My Interpretation of the Seven of Swords
Caution: You or another person may be tempted to do something that is not right! Beware... You or a cunning person will take something or betray confidential matters to get ahead!
The Sword Archetypes desire the truth and aren't afraid to call a “Spade a Spade"! But in the Seven of Swords, the Archetype needs to be crafty to win the game! The Sword Archetypes experience conflict, pain, anger and aggression, and wrestle with unresolved issues in their mind. When they're ready to act, they'll cut right through the situation and the result is usually shocking!
The positive characteristics of the Swords are their strength, authority, courage, ambition, and desire to travel. The negative characteristics represent an angry person, one who is dishonest and sneaky, has hidden motives, and may use verbal abuse to control the situation to get what her or she wants.
