Emptiness

To not be oneself, to be empty
To latch-on to whoever shows interest
To pursue their interests hoping they will love us, want us, be interested in us
Hoping they will complete us
Hoping they will grow to love us
The emptiness of unfulfilled expectations
The loneliness of knowing we're liked for our body, our possessions, our meekness and submission but not for our value as a person
Knowing our effort buys their desires, their company but not their respect, nor their love
That must be painful indeed

I lost myself in my words— The ones casting my road; I’m too lost in the dreams That weave a labyrinth before me.
