The Devil: Self looking deep within
The DevilHi G***. In today's card we find our Self looking deep within. The Devil is a card of feeling bounded, limitations, and checking in to see what fear and doubt may be standing in your way. The Devil can be a much misrepresented card in the tarot; however, it is a card of self-realization in its deepest sense.
Looking in the mirror, often times we do not recognize the person looking back. Some of us may even be in a space of avoiding the mirror all together. This is a time when we are faced with choices, and as always that feeling of separation and doubt comes to surface. The Devil reminds us that we do, in fact, have a choice.
Looking deep into this rendition of the card, we see a faceless image in the mirror. Who are you truly? How do you wish to align your Self? We have been taught ways to cover or numb our feelings of fear, the darkness that exist within us. We have come to think that the darkness is a bad thing, however, without the dark there can be no light.
For me, the true meaning of this card is to make peace with the fear, the darkness within. To find a balance within, and use it to help you move forward. This card is reminding us that we are the one in control of our feelings, of our actions. When we step back and look at our fears as sign posts, when we look to see where there is room for growth, we tune into the flow and find that there is no such thing as separation. We remember that we have within us everything we need. The Devil is a card of freedom! Freedom from the ties that bind, from limitations we have created in our own mind.
This beautiful gift today, comes to tell us to let go of the chains, you see that they are easy to slip out of when we step back and remember who we really are, and where we come from. We are all infinite Beings, without limitations, and fear is a choice. Today choose love, choose to be free, choose to be true to Self!
In the past year, I have tried to make myself conform, tried to put the square into the circle. It does not work, it never has. Only by truly letting go of the fear, and getting clear on who I am and what I want; only by truly stepping back and allowing the universe to work out the details, do I move in, move with the flow. It is amazing how fast it works.
The Devil reminds us to trust, to find balance, and to let go of the fear of the limitations. There is no need to numb the pain. Let go of the past and release attachment to the future. Allow our Self to be happy in this moment, and enjoy the process of life, exactly as it is. Do not be scared of the dark, ask for help, and watch how quickly the light appears....look up and see the stars!
Also, remember that we are all stars, and sometimes our light is required to help another see in the dark. It is from this giving of our light, that we receive clarity and grow. So...what will you do today to balance your light and dark? Will you face a fear? Or maybe you will let go of a limiting belief or action that you no longer require. Whatever you choose, choose wisely, choose mindful. Be the creator of your life and know that it is all perspective...if we see things as good or evil then it is, however when we see things just for what they are we find ways to move such that they work for us, helping us expand and grow into our highest Self!
