moonshining

why is the moon so lonely?
it's not for want of lovers
so many stars do dance and twinkle
so many of them casting their love spells
but she's turned away, alone to wander
wonder where to cast her rays.
She often hides behind the clouds
wanting so to veil her countenance
and only peeks from within those clouds
to gaze and gaze at her reflection,
her eyes fixed on the river's waters
she seeks to see her face again
the one she hid to find her lover.
