exit stage left
I'm leaving, leaving now
Hard to explain why I remained
But there is nothing else to see here.
Having reached the last act, the curtain falls
The orchestra stops, no more clowns to see.
I want to go in search of a new spectacle
But this body keeps playing its part to a waiting audience,
It keeps following the circular road of stage houses
The desiccated props, the repetition of doors and windows
I want to leave, today as good an any other day!
I can't be part of the endless repetitions
I can't gaze at the fearful faces of half drawn actors,
I don't want to listen to the dissonant rehearsal.
I want to leave because if I were to stay
I would have to keep writing
But the actors have left the stage
Their masks broken, the empty dialog completed.
I want to leave-- all costumes have been removed
Hearts no longer beating with pretense,
The fantasy broken, the illusion revealed--
I can only describe an empty stage now.
