Changes and perception
You arrive at the path of castles in the sky... The Sevens represent your relationship conflicts through the choices you make, or do not make.
The Minor Arcana represent your choices and actions throughout the realization of your destiny. The Cups represent your personal outlook with respect to your emotional feelings and your tendency to think with your heart rather than with your head. This includes the connection to love, friendships and relationships which exert such a strong pull on your decisions.
Psyche Meets Eros's Mother, Aphrodite
After Psyche hurt Eros (Cupid) and lost his trust, damaging their marriage, she wandered the Earth looking for Eros but could not find him. Determined to tell Eros she truly loved him, she contacted his mother (Aphrodite) and asked for help.
Aphrodite, still angry with her initial devious plot that went awry, sought revenge by giving Psyche a list of extremely difficult tasks to complete. Psyche felt like her dreams were just "Castles in the Sky" after she talked with Aphrodite but realized that she had to hunker down and do what Aphrodite wanted in order to get Eros back!
Eros, watching from a distance, knew Psyche was going through hell because of his mother's spitefulness. He made a heartfelt decision, visited Jupiter and asked Jupiter to convince Aphrodite to help Psyche. In astrology, Jupiter is the planet of luck, and also the guardian angel planet that works in a mysterious way!
My Interpretation of The Seven Of Cups Tarot Card
The Seven of Cups represents "Castles in the Sky", the images in your mind's eye related to personal dreams. These dreams might indicate a lost relationship, one you want back! In Mythic Tarot, Psyche's dream to get Eros back includes humbling herself before Aphrodite, on her knees, prepared to stay in this particular place of humility, to do whatever it takes!
Sometimes a relationship has suffered irreparable damage, so your dream remains as "Castles in the Sky" until you're ready to let go!
The Seven of Cups indicates daydreaming, a time you're excited about pursuing your dreams! You might need to overcome your fears lest they stop you straight away. You'll need to muster the courage to go after what you want and face your fears with every step you take. You need to be ready to work to achieve these dreams. You must resist daydreaming and living in your imagination, suffering from delusion, temptation, fantasy, weakness and regrets.
The Seven of Cups also represents the seven deadly sins of wrath, envy, sloth, vanity, greed, gluttony and lust. Each sin is associated with one of the seven golden cups.
Cup 1, wrath = people unable to shed their old skin to heal, who may hate themselves and others because of the pain they're carrying around! They hang on to anger which gets stronger and they become more aggressive.
Cup 2, envy = people jealous of others and their lifestyle and success, desirous of what belongs to others because they love possessions.
Cup 3, sloth = people who fantasize about their goals instead of working to accomplish anything. People who are constantly idle, unmotivated, and living in their sacred lazy place of doing nothing!
Cup 4, vanity (prideful soul) = people who can't admit they have faults, have an excessive amount of pride, and are delusional about their importance to others.
Cup 5, greed = hoarders, people who guard their possessions, want wealth rather than love, and want to gain much more than they need.
Cup 6, gluttony = people who overindulge when they eat and drink and they don't want to share with others.
Cup 7, lust = people with intense desires or sexual cravings. Lustful fantasies represent pleasures, but don't merit any value or love.
If you engage in these sins, the temporary pleasure may become an obsession, causing unfortunate consequences that you'll have to overcome!
A personal story... On the day of my mother's surprise birthday party, I was trying to tie up all the loose ends and my friend said that she would run to the store to help out. She grabbed the shopping list and ran out but when she started doing the shopping, she realized she had taken the wrong list. Instead, she had grabbed a piece of paper on my desk that had the notes about The Seven of Cups! She called me on her cell phone and asked me what isle the 7 Cups of Lust were located because she wanted some!
Positive Position: The positive position seems rather negative because you may be daydreaming about the things you desire, rather than making your dreams come true. Your fears may be getting in the way or you might have an obstacle in the way of achieving your dreams, or you might have unrealistic priorities. The positive position represents that you are not acting on these dreams and desires! You are asked to be committed to your dreams and goals to reap the rewards. However, you need to separate what is real from illusion and avoid the seven deadly sins of wrath, envy, sloth, vanity, greed, gluttony and lust.
Negative Position: The negative position is rather positive because this is the time when you will follow through with your dreams and desires and let your old ways of confusion and illusion fall away from you (the confusion and illusion falls out of the golden cups in the reverse position). You're paying more attention to the future than to the past, and this will be the time when you realize that you were looking for happiness in all the wrong places.
Timing may be spontaneous or slow, depending on what your heart relays to you. Timing is within 7 weeks, 7 months, or related to the fall season.
